Wave Therapy

What is Wave Therapy?

Wave Therapy is an evidence-based, alternative treatment for erectile dysfunction, or ED. The key to satisfactory erectile function is good blood flow within erectile tissues. Oral ED medications, such as Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra are designed to improve blood flow, however, they are not indicated for all men, and have many harmful side-effects. These medications only work on half the men who take them and with very dangerous side effects for most who can take them.

Instead of dangerous chemical compounds, this technique uses pulsed-energy waves to open and repair aging blood vessels and increase blood flow to your penis.

How does the Treatment Work?

Good blood flow is essential to erectile function.

The blood vessels that supply blood to your penis begin to close up and decay, the older you get. The gently pulsating waves promote increased blood flow to the penis by opening existing blood vessels and stimulating the growth of new blood vessels. The improvement in blood flow results in stronger, harder, and more sustainable erections.

The pulsating waves also trigger a healing response that “wakes-up” dormant stem cells and growth factors in the penis. The release of these “growth factors” also stimulate the creation of new blood vessels, as well as the rejuvenation of erectile tissue.

80% of men with ED who have received Wave Therapy saw a reversal of their condition, and gave up taking oral ED drugs. Nearly 90% of all men receiving the treatment have reported positive results and improved sexual performance!

Wave therapy is a revolutionary treatment for erectile dysfunction. It is effective in men with many preexisting conditions. However, it is important to choose the right provider. It is critical that the provider knows the relevant anatomy and understands the physiology behind the treatment so that you can be effectively guided through the treatment process. It is not enough to simply go into an office to get treatments and expect stellar results. This treatment requires active participation by the patient. It is important that you are actively trying to get erections throughout the treatment process and if necessary other modalities will need to be employed to assist you in getting erections while your body has time to respond to the therapy. Here at Forge Medical Group, we recognize that although poor blood flow is the root cause of most cases of erectile dysfunction, there are many causes of poor blood flow. It is critical that your history and medication list be reviewed and possibly adjusted with the input from your primary care provider to maximize the benefit received from Wave Therapy. It is also important to recognize that no two patients are the same. Most practices that provide this type of treatment have a set protocol for everyone. Clearly, that is not the appropriate approach. An experienced physician knows that each patient is different and with experience can tailor treatment to the patient as an individual.

Another often overlooked facet of wave therapy is that the treatments can vary, not only in number and area treated but also in intensity and number of pulses delivered to each treated area. Again, an experienced physician can determine how many treatments are optimal and also vary the energy intensity to suit each patients body habitus. As treatments progress, changing the treatment area can provide added benefit. Here an understanding of the anatomy is critical. Effectiveness is also impacted by the frequency and number of treatments. As in any branch of medicine, the experience is the most useful guide to help navigate these complex scenarios. Here at Forge Medical Group, Wave Therapy for erectile dysfunction is what we specialize in. This allows us to concentrate our efforts on providing the best-individualized treatment plan for each of our patients.

Lastly, erectile dysfunction is an embarrassing difficult condition to discuss. Men who come to our office appreciate our friendly all-male staff. We understand the difficulties that this condition presents to all kinds of men from those who are married, separated, widowed and single. Each patient has their own often complex situation which is a cause or made worse by erectile dysfunction. In turn, the psychological effects of erectile dysfunction feedback on the condition itself causing a worsening of the condition. Stress and depression clearly play a role here and that role needs to be recognized.

We hope this helps you understand Wave Therapy and erectile dysfunction and we are always here to answer any questions you may have.
